Nepal will always have a special place in my heart as it’s where I did my yoga teacher training course at Nepal Yoga Home in Kathmandu. I had hoped to return to Nepal one day, and was lucky enough to have the opportunity to do so less than two years before my initial trip.

I flew in from India and immediately hopped into a taxi from Kathmandu to Nagarkot. Nagarkot is a mountain village about 2 hours away from Kathmandu. It’s renowned for it’s unparalleled sunrise and sunset views that offer panoramic views of eight of the highest mountains in the world!

I’ll be staying in Nagarkot for two weeks doing yoga and meditating in their eco-lodge here at Hotel At The End Of The Universe and volunteering at the hotel helping them out with their marketing and online presence. I can’t believe they have such a gorgeous eco-lodge dedicated to yoga and mediation that is totally open and free to use.

When I arrived there was a large group from Serbia who had traveled here to hike the mountains and do yoga here in the eco-lodge. It was wonderful to be surrounded by Serbians again! I haven’t met a single Serbian on my travels these last two years, but when I studied and later worked in Greece, I met so many of these wonderful people.

Hotel At the End of the universe

The Hotel at the End of the Universe straddles the mountainside. It’s completely isolated and the guests accommodations are mostly unattached and free floating small wooden and concrete bungalow topped with gorgeous silver slate squares. Almost all of which have beautiful Mountain View’s.

It’s so peaceful here. It feels like I can breathe again.

There’s zero noise pollution. There’s no dogs barking. There’s no nighttime yelling and shouting and music in the streets.

There’s nothing here but the birds.

There’s so much room to wander around the Hotel at the End of The Universe, to feel like you have nooks and crannies and benches and tables and slabs of rock to find solitude if you truly don’t want to see another human face. There’s also large patches of grass perfect for yoga if I don’t feel like doing it in the eco-lodge.

There’s also a restaurant here as part of the hotel, it almost looks like it belongs in Morocco inside. With heavy wooden table and chairs, and golden teapots on every table. There’s also a million tiny trinkets artfully tucked into every corner. I feel like I’ll discover something new here every day.

Did I mention I feel like I can breathe again?

I am so happy to be spending two weeks here at the Hotel at the End of The Universe. It’s so shanti, surrounded by green and fresh mountain air. If you’re planning a trip to Kathmandu and you’re debating whether to visit Nagarkot the answer is YES YES YES. And with rooms as cheap as $10 a night for a private room, seriously. Get your butt over here.
