A poem Lily Allen-Duenas. Revisiting this poem made me think of yoga. It illustrates my desire to be one with the world, and as the Rumi saying goes, to be not a drop in the ocean but the entire ocean in a drop. I wanted to share it with you all, in case it sparks a little love for yoga or poetry, or yoga poetry in you all.
empty like a bowl
there is no sleep with
these echoes in my body
that fill every hollow
so i expand the belly of the cello
and i sway
unable to stay
in this space of ambivalence
and emptiness
i am unable to untie the tangles
i am unable to soften in the light
if only i could become one with this
d u s t y
w o r l d
then maybe i could find the empty bowl:
the ancestor of all things
// Poem by Lily Allen-Duenas as first published on the Daily Palette.
